Admissions

The application process at South Georgia Tech is easy, and the Student Services staff is available to help you in any way. Simply fill out an application and submit it with the application fee.

If you have not taken the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) you will be required to take a placement test. This test does not determine acceptance to South Georgia Tech—it simply determines what course of study you are best suited for and at what level you need to start your career.

If you are apprehensive about testing, don’t worry—South Georgia Tech can arrange for you to brush up on your computer and academic skills before taking the placement test. Once you are accepted, you can apply for financial aid, register, and attend orientation.

Procedures for admission:

  • Complete an application.
  • Pay a one-time non-refundable application fee of $20.
  • Receive an appointment to take the placement test.
  • Take the placement test as scheduled (contact the Admissions Office if there is a conflict and reschedule testing).
  • Receive results from admissions personnel.
  • Applicant is accepted for admission when all requirements are met.
  • Apply for Financial Aid.
  • Report for orientation and registration.

ABILITY TO BENEFIT EXAM

An applicant who does not have a high school diploma or GED and who wishes to apply for financial aid may demonstrate eligibility by passing the Ability to Benefit Examination. Students may apply for the exam through the Admissions Office. Passing the Ability to Benefit Exam does not take the place of having a high school diploma or GED for those programs that require a diploma or GED.
