Hardware / Software Requirements

Software Requirements:

  • Windows operating system (XP, 2000, NT, ME, 98)*
  • Daily access to a computer (preferably at home)
  • Internet Service Provider (ISP)
    • Do NOT use AOL's Web browser to access your online course

  • Email account (must check regularly)

  • Word processing software (most courses use Microsoft Word) - contact your instructor

NOTE: * Some courses require specific software that are not required by all courses. You are responsible for obtaining and installing any supplemental software required for your course. Contact the instructor for specific requirements. NOTICE: Some online/hybrid courses use books that require an "Access Key." This Access Key is ONLY available either with brand new books, or purchased directly from the publisher. It is your responsibility to check with the instructor(s) of your online course(s) to determine if the course will require an Access Key. Please do this before you purchase you books for your online/hybrid classes. Minimum hardware specifications recommended:

  • Pentium/Athlon processor, 400 MHz (or higher)
  • 64 MB RAM
  • 100 MB of free disk space (to install a browser if necessary, plus additional space for other programs if applicable)
  • DSL modem, Cable modem, or 56K modem
  • Printer (laser or inkjet)
  • CD-ROM (required for some courses)
