Wednesday September 19, 2012
Six South Georgia Technical College student athletes recently took time to give back to the community by reading to local students at Sarah Cobb Elementary School. Lady Jets Shaquaya Daniels of New York, NY; Courtney Washington of Valdosta, and Krysta Woods of Atlanta, along with Jets Stedmon Lemon of Lithonia, Jacob Obande of Marietta, and Thomas Benson of Savannah all read children’s books aloud to various Sarah Cobb classes.

“SGTC is always looking for ways to give back to the community, and this is one way we do so,” said SGTC Athletic Director and Jets Head Coach Steven Wright. “Sarah Cobb is doing a wonderful job educating today’s youth that will be the leaders of tomorrow.”

The Jets will participate in the Tallahassee Jamboree on October 6, and their first home game will be Monday, November 5 at 7:30pm vs. Elite Performance Sports Academy. The Lady Jets will participate in the Darton Classic in Albany, November 2 and 3, and their first home game will be Saturday, November 10 at 4pm vs. Georgia Gwinnett College.
