Programs of Study

South Georgia Technical College offers a wide variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and technical certificates of credit. From Welding, Culinary Arts, and Criminal Justice to Marketing Management, Aerospace programs, and Early Childhood Care and Education, we have something to fit your interests. Our programs are uniquely designed by combining classroom and hands-on training to give you real life skills. For more extensive training, associate degrees can normally be obtained in two years and diploma programs can take anywhere from one to two years. If the fast track is what you need, technical certificates involve short-term training in just two to eight quarters. Every student has different needs. At South Georgia Tech, we serve students from across the state of Georgia, as well as national and international students, and we do our best to meet the needs of each student we serve. We offer regular day classes, evening classes, and online courses. Online classes are also available to South Georgia Tech students through Georgia Virtual Technical College (GVTC). Many classes in other program areas are offered through GVTC to students right here in our area! With Internet access, you can take classes anywhere, anytime. So, no matter when you want to take classes, SGTC has an option for you. Most diploma and degree programs offered at South Georgia Tech take 1 to 2 years to complete for full-time students on a regular course schedule. Certificate programs can take anywhere form 2 to 8 quarters for completion. With programs such as Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Care and Education, Marketing Management, Practical Nursing, Environmental Horticulture, plus many others, there is sure to be something at South Georgia Tech that will spark your interest. Even if you are unsure about what path you want to take, counselors are available to help you choose the program and the career that is right for you. The associate degree is offered in five academic areas. To earn an associate degree, the student must complete the requirements for the diploma program and an additional thirty quarter hours in college level courses. Diploma programs provide career training in a wide variety of fields. Full-time students can complete their course work in four to six quarters. The Career Services Department is committed to finding jobs for our graduates. Their success rate is nearing 100%. Students can also earn a Technical Certificate of Credit in a number of areas. These programs provide training for a particular job skill and can be completed in a short period of time. Credit earned towards a Technical Certificate of Credit can also be used for a Diploma or Associate Degree.
