Certified Specialists Programs

The Economic Development Division offers a variety of certificate programs: The Supervisory Management Specialist (SMS) program is designed for those who are currently working in the area of management or want to move up from their current position to management. This program also offers interested candidates the opportunity to make themselves more efficient and more promotable within an existing position. The courses are designed to improve skills and knowledge of supervisory principles. This is a three semester program that allows students to attend classes while working full time. Class meets one night per week. The Certified Customer Service Specialist (CCSS) program provides skilled workers for the service industries in which customer contact skills are vital. This program was developed by service training professionals and is eligible for the HOPE Grant program. Students will develop communication skills, computer skills, basic business skills and learn to present a positive image to both co-workers and customers. The Certified Manufacturing Specialist (CMS) program was designed by industry training professionals and provides the training needed for a competitive skilled workforce. Changing technology and work methods have created unique needs. The CMS program targets these specific needs and can be paid for with the HOPE Grant program. Students will learn workplace skills, production principles, computerized process control and safety requirements. The Electrical Lineworker program will prepare individuals for entry level employment with regional utility companies. This program was designed as an immediate response to industry demands. Students will learn workplace skills, automation skills such as tools and electrical fundamentals, and occupational skills including industrial truck operation, CDL training and pole safety. This is a 7 week course, meeting Monday through Friday, 8:00-4:00 pm each day. Call 229-931-2040 (Americus) or 229-271-4045 (Cordele) for information on all of these offerings.
