SGTC, NASA partnering to prepare students in science and math fields
South Georgia Technicl College in Americus, GA and NASA have partnered to better prepare students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related fields through the newly installed Aerospace Education Laboratory on the SGTC campus. The Aerospace Education Laboratory (AEL) allows students to explore technology through "hands on/minds on" activities that model real-world challenges. In the aeronautics scenario, students gather esstential data neccessary for the completion of a cross-country flight. The lab is filled with navigation tools such as: remote sensing imaging technology, live radio reception, global positioning systems, flight simulation software, a wind tunnel and a virtual reality station. In the Microgravity scenario, students will explore phenomena and processes that are normally masked by the effects that are normally masked by the effects of gravity. Students will learn about the international Space Station, Robotics, Living and Working in Space, Biotechnology and actually land the Space Shuttle on its final approach. For more information about the lab or to schedule a visit, contact:
