South Georgia Technical College Barbering Dual Enrollment student and recent Americus Sumter County High School graduate Travion Gardner was spotlight by WALB-TV recently for his hard work and dedication to his family.

Gardner was singled out for stepping up to work a part-time job at Captain D’s while also utilizing skills he learned from his barbering instructor Adirenne Clayton, who taught cosmetology and barbering for SGTC at Americus-Sumter, to help earn additional income to support his mother and sister.

After graduation, Gardner joined the United States Army to continue helping his family. One day he hopes to return and open up a barbershop in his hometown and pay tribute to his older half-bother, LaWarrior Gardner, who was killed due to gun violence last year. LaWarrior earned his Barbering Diploma from South Georgia Technical College while he was still in high school as a dual enrollment student also.
