Danyel Tobias Reid of Vienna has been selected as the new Accounting Director for South Georgia Technical College (SGTC), announced President Dr. John Watford recently. Reid will report to SGTC Vice President of Administrative Services Lea Coe. She was selected for this position after former Accounting Director Robin Bell announced her retirement.
Reid has been serving as SGTC Administrative Services Director since July 2023. She began her career at SGTC as a Financial Aid Technician in 2019 and later took over the duties as the bookstore manager and business office representative on the Crisp County Campus. In addition to her positions at South Georgia Technical College, Reid has also worked with the Financial Aid Office at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
“Danyel Tobias Reid has been an integral part of South Georgia Technical College for the past seven years,” said President Watford. “I look forward to continuing to work with her in her new capacity. Her experience as Director of Administrative Services and in Financial Aid as well as the college’s overall accounting processes will be useful to her in her new position.”
As the Accounting Director, Reid will be responsible for the administration, development and implementation of initiatives, supervision of employees, management of the operating budget, and oversight of comprehensive accounting and financial activities for the technical college. This position manages and develops a comprehensive accounting program integrating Generally accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards, statutory accounting requirements, and departmental fiscal policies and procedures. She will also analyze financial statistics and accounting data to identify trends impacting the fiscal position of the college and supervise employees performing financial and accounting operations and all other duties as assigned.
Reid is a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College in Tifton with a Bachelor of Agriculture, Agribusiness. She is also securing a Master of Business Administration from Georgia Southwestern State University. Danyel is married to Daniel Reid and has a seven-year old son, Toby Reid and a 11-month old daughter, Laney Reid.
