Representatives from Global Cellulose Fibers in Oglethorpe recently visited South Georgia Technical College to speak with Electronics Technology and Electrical Systems students about summer internship opportunities at their facility.
Derrick Hill, Mario Sneed, Danny Harmon, and Mike Strickland met with students to discuss positions available in the company’s Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) department. The four-month, paid internship provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in an industrial setting while earning competitive wages.
Students from both programs attended the session alongside Electronics Technology instructor Mike Collins and Electrical Systems Technology instructor Patrick Owen, who helped facilitate the visit and connect students with industry representatives.
According to Collins, the internship offers students valuable “in field” work experience and exposure to real-world applications of their training. He noted that the opportunity also has the potential to lead to full-time employment with Global Cellulose Fibers.
South Georgia Technical College continues to partner with industry leaders to create opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience and prepare for high-demand careers. Learn more at www.southgatech.edu.
