SGTC Accounting and Business Technology Advisory Committee Meets

Posted on

South Georgia Technical College recently held an advisory committee meeting for its Accounting and Business Technology programs on the Americus campus.

Accounting instructor Brenda Boone and Business Technology instructor Sharon Smith met with committee members to review the programs and discuss current industry needs, workforce expectations, and ways to keep instruction aligned with the skills employers are seeking.

Advisory committee meetings provide an important connection between SGTC programs and the businesses and industries they serve. Committee members offer input on curriculum, technology, workplace practices, and other areas that can help strengthen programs and prepare students for employment.

Industry representatives attending the meeting were Krista Cooper of Sumter EMC and Michael Edge of Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

SGTC representatives attending were Melissa Hollis, Receiving and Distribution Manager; Katrice Martin, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator; Ashley Dukes, Academic Dean; Boone; and Smith.

Feedback from advisory committee members helps SGTC evaluate its programs and ensure students receive relevant training for careers in accounting, business, and administrative fields.
