The Architectural and Engineering Drawing Technology Advisory Committee at South Georgia Technical College recently met on the Americus campus to discuss the program and provide industry input to help ensure students are receiving training that reflects current workforce needs.
Architectural and Engineering Drawing Technology instructor Kristie Hudson met with committee members to discuss the program and hear feedback from professionals representing several areas of the design and construction industries.
Advisory committees provide an important connection between SGTC programs and the employers and industries they serve. Committee members offer insight into workplace expectations, industry practices, technology, and skills that can help guide curriculum and prepare students for successful careers.
Industry representatives participating in the meeting included Rick Hambric of Hambric Steel and Fabrication in Albany; Rob Evans of IPG Architects; Angie Wiseman of FSC and an independent sprinkler systems designer; and Carolyn Hudson, a retired electrical designer with Technical Associates.
SGTC representatives participating in the meeting included Academic Dean Brett Murray, Career Services Director Cynthia Carter, WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai, and Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator Katrice Martin.
The Architectural and Engineering Drawing Technology program provides students with training for careers involving technical drawings and plans used in architectural, engineering, manufacturing, and construction-related fields.
