South Georgia Technical College recently convened its Barbering Advisory Committee on the Americus campus to discuss program updates and examine current trends shaping the barbering profession.

The committee, made up of industry professionals and SGTC faculty, serves an important role in supporting the continued development of the college’s barbering and cosmetology programs. Barbering instructor Andre Robinson shared updates on enrollment, curriculum adjustments, student accomplishments, and community engagement efforts.

Members of the advisory group offered feedback on enhancing hands-on training opportunities and ensuring instruction reflects the skills and techniques currently in demand within the industry. They also discussed employment opportunities and strategies to better position graduates for success in the workforce.

Attendees included Cliff Jordan of Xclusive Barbershop in Cordele, Brandon Price of Sophisticuts, Master Barber Tavrence Williams and student representative Carl Green. Representing SGTC were adjunct barbering instructor Eric Rogers, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Melissa Hollis, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator Katrice Martin, and Academic Dean Dr. David Finley.
