The advisory committee for the South Georgia Technical College Cosmetology and Nail Tech programs met recently on the SGTC campus in the Odom Center conference room. Cosmetology Instructors Dorothea Lusane McKenzie and Jessakeetha Maddox shared updates on student enrollment, curriculum adjustments, community involvement, and notable student accomplishments.
Members of the advisory committees represent local business and industry that have a direct interest in the program they are involved with and provide valuable input on potential curriculum improvements, emerging beauty technologies, training opportunities, and job placement outlooks. Their feedback helps ensure SGTC programs remain aligned with industry expectations and workforce needs.
Committee members present included Tracy Finch of Dorothea’s Beauty Salon, Martha Bruce of KB’s Beauty Salon, Cosmetology student Ashley Burke, and Emily Monts of Emm’z One Stop Shop. Representing SGTC were Academic Dean Dr. David Finley and Adminstrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Melissa Hollis.
