The South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Law Enforcement Academy is offering several professional development and specialized training opportunities for law enforcement personnel this summer.
The academy will host Leadership in Public Safety: Theory and Practice from June 22 through July 1. The course, which satisfies supervision levels 1, 2, and 3 leadership requirements, will be held daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The registration fee is $50, and the deadline to register is June 12.
A Field Training Officer Training course is scheduled for July 20-24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The training is designed to prepare officers to serve as field training officers and mentors within their agencies. The registration fee is $35, and the registration deadline is July 10.
The academy will also offer P.I.T. (Precision Immobilization Technique) Training on August 17-18 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. This specialized course is limited to eight participants and provides advanced vehicle immobilization training for law enforcement officers. The registration fee is $300. Registration closes August 7 or when the class reaches capacity.
