Fourteen students in the South Georgia Technical College Nail Technology program recently showcased their creativity, technical ability, and professionalism during the program’s annual Nail Technology Competition on the Americus campus.
The competition provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate the techniques and skills they have developed through hands-on instruction while preparing for careers in the beauty and wellness industry.
Top honors were awarded to Alasia Colwell of Americus, who earned first place with model DEricka Andrews. Savannah Miller of Ellaville placed second with model Eriana Williams, Kimberly Gonzalez of De Soto earned third place with model Yoselin Gonzalez, and Liliana Martinez of Abbeville finished fourth with model Joana Martinez.
Nail Technology instructor Jessakeetha Maddox commended all 14 students for their outstanding work throughout the competition. She noted that the quality of the entries made judging especially difficult and said she was grateful not to have the responsibility of selecting the winners.
The competition was judged by Breanna Mathews, Katherine Recker, LaShanda Bobbs, and Viveca Jones, who evaluated the students' work using professional industry standards and provided valuable feedback.
South Georgia Technical College's Nail Technology program provides students with hands-on training in a salon environment, preparing graduates for careers in nail care and related beauty professions.
