The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Americus chapter of South Georgia Technical College assisted with the college’s annual STEM Camp recently. The SGTC STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Camp was a week-long learning experience for 60 high school students in grades 10 – 12 from 10 different counties.

The high school students were exposed to the “Complete College Experience” during the overnight STEM camp and were immersed in many of the over 200 associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit programs offered at South Georgia Technical College.

The SGTC NTHS students assisted SGTC Biology Instructor Matthew Cowan with the sessions hosted in the college’s biology lab. They gave students demonstrations on the college’s Anatomage Table and guided students through various anatomical exhibits.

The exhibits included dissections of sheep brains, cow eyes, a stingray, and a nurse shark. The SGTC NTHS students also shared with the high school STEM campers about the service role of NTHS at South Georgia Technical College. They also discussed community projects and the building of the organization to each other organizations on campus and assisting in local projects.
