South Georgia Technical College recently honored the graduates of its Practical Nursing program during a traditional pinning ceremony on the college's Cordele campus. The ceremony celebrated the students' successful completion of the program and marked their transition into the nursing profession.

The ceremony featured remarks from Julie Partain, an invocation by practical nursing student Alaysia Glover, a class address by student DyQuasia Daniels, and closing remarks from Practical Nursing instructor Chad Morgan, RN. Graduates also participated in the traditional lighting of the candles and recited the Nursing Pledge. Several graduates were joined by special nurses in their lives who assisted with the presentation of their nursing pins.

Graduates recognized during the ceremony included Takayla Brown, Shakerra Carter, Jasmine Crawford, DyQuasia Daniels, Brandi Fowler, Alaysia Glover, Lakesha Jackson, Au'Nyia Jones, Michelle Sims, Latoya Thompkins, Kimberley White, and Jasmine Young.

The Practical Nursing pinning ceremony is a long-standing tradition that symbolizes the graduates' commitment to compassionate patient care and professional excellence as they prepare to enter the healthcare workforce. The graduates are now eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to become licensed practical nurses.

South Georgia Technical College offers Practical Nursing programs on both its Americus and Cordele campuses, preparing students for rewarding careers in hospitals, long-term care facilities, physicians' offices, clinics, and other healthcare settings.
