South Georgia Technical College hosted a “Student Appreciation Day” event on the Odom Center Front Lawn on the Americus campus recently and it was a big hit! The SGTC Crisp County Center celebrated Student Appreciation Day earlier this year.
Hundreds of students took part in the special event that lasted from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and featured a free lunch, t-shirts, popcorn, pickles, snow cones, cotton candy, inflatables, outdoor games, music, and more. SGTC Police and Campus Safety officers as well as deans and instructors grilled for the students while Aramark and their staff provided most of the extras to go with the barbecue ribs, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages and more.
The event was sponsored by SGTC but hosted by the Student Affairs Department. Faculty and staff volunteered to man the different stations and booths throughout the day so that students could enjoy the activities held in their honor.
“This was a great day,” said SGTC Vice President of Student Affairs Eulish Kinchens. “We love our students and I think this was a great way to show them how much we appreciate them for choosing South Georgia Technical College!”
SGTC Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs Joshua Curtin organized the different games and solicited volunteers from the faculty and staff to help out.
