Eleven Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) students recently celebrated the completion of the Practical Nursing program at South Georgia Technical College, marking an important milestone as they prepare to enter the healthcare workforce.
The graduates represented both the Americus and Cordele campuses and were recognized for successfully completing the rigorous nursing program with support from the WIOA program.
The Cordele campus graduates included AuNiya Jones of Crisp County, Brandi Fowler of Dooly County, DyQuasia Daniels of Dooly County, Jasmine Crawford of Crisp County, Takayla Brown of Crisp County, and Jasmine Young of Dooly County.
Graduates from the Americus campus included Deyza Scott of Sumter County, Jakayla Watts of Sumter County, Kailey Hudson of Webster County, Jamyron Clayton of Sumter County, and Jakela Jones of Crisp County.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act program helps eligible students overcome financial barriers to education by providing assistance with tuition, fees, books, supplies, and other support services. Through partnerships with South Georgia Technical College, the program helps students prepare for employment in high-demand career fields.
Practical Nursing graduates are prepared to pursue licensure and begin careers providing quality patient care in hospitals, physicians' offices, long-term care facilities, clinics, and other healthcare settings.

Fall semester registration is August 13, and classes begin August 17.
