South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford accepted the donation for the SGTC Foundation at the college’s GOAL breakfast recently where Air Conditioning Technology student David Bush of Cuthbert was selected as the overall GOAL winner for South Georgia Technical College.

Carolyn Wright, President and CEO of the Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, told the individual students, faculty, staff, and friends present at the awards ceremony that this is a great way to start the morning. “I had the privilege of serving as a judge for this event and I think I can speak on behalf of all the judges when I tell you how wonderful and excited we were by these students.  These students were focused on their career goals and it made us excited about the future of this world.

“We are very blessed to have the number one community college in Georgia right here in Americus and Sumter County,” continued Wright.  “I was honored to meet each one of these students and to learn more about them during the interview process.  I know that South Georgia Technical College is preparing you for success in your chosen careers by helping develop your work ethics and providing you with the knowledge about the career you have selected.  We appreciate you choosing South Georgia Technical College and this community for your education.  And now the Americus-Sumter Chamber of Commerce and Sumter EMC want to give back by sponsoring the cost of your accommodations while you compete in Atlanta.”

Wright congratulated David Bush for being selected as the SGTC GOAL student and wished him well in the regional and state competitions.
