CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State head men’s basketball coach Justin Barkley announced the signing of Dawan Bass to the 2018 men’s basketball signing class. Bass will be a junior on the RSU men’s basketball team in the 2018-19 season.
“Adding a player like Dawan was important to this year’s recruiting class,” Barkley said. “He brings length, athleticism and toughness. One thing that sold us on Dawan was Coach Garrett at South Georgia Tech. Coach Garrett raved about his ability to make winning plays and his ability to be a lockdown defender. I can’t wait to get Dawan here in the fall and start working with him.”
Bass comes to College Hill from South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia. The 6-4 guard averaged 12.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his sophomore campaign as a Jet. He was named to the NJCAA Region 17 All-Tournament Team and All-Conference along with landing on the All-Conference Defensive Team. Bass started in 29 games and helped the Jets to a 20-12 record. A Baltimore, Maryland native, Bass played his prep career at Patterson High School.
The Hillcat men’s basketball team went 18-11 in the 2017-18 season, including an 11-3 record at the Claremore Expo Center. RSU advanced to postseason play for the second time in its two years as full members of NCAA Division II with an appearance in the Heartland Conference Tournament.
