South Georgia Technical College Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs and GOAL Coordinator Josh Curtin has announced the members of the college’s internal screening committee for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL), the statewide program recognizing excellence among technical college students.
The committee will interview students nominated by SGTC instructors and select four finalists to advance in the college’s GOAL process. This year’s screening committee includes Calvin Hodge Jr., Campus Police Chief; Sandhya Muljibhai, WIOA Coordinator; Tylen Pepito, Admissions Counselor-Recruiter; Jennifer Robinson, Special Populations Coordinator; and Macy Williams, Admissions Coordinator/High School Initiative Specialist.
Students considered for GOAL must first be nominated by an instructor. The screening committee evaluates nominees based on factors including academic achievement, attendance, character, leadership potential, personal goals and enthusiasm for technical education.
The four finalists selected by the committee will move on to interviews with a panel of local business and industry representatives. That panel will select one student to serve as SGTC’s GOAL winner and represent the college in regional competition.
The SGTC winner will also participate in the Technical College System of Georgia’s statewide GOAL process, which brings together top technical college students from across Georgia and culminates with the selection of the state’s Student of the Year.
GOAL is designed to recognize outstanding technical education students while highlighting the role technical colleges play in preparing skilled graduates for Georgia’s workforce.
SGTC will announce its four finalists following the screening committee interviews.
