Students in the Cosmetology program at South Georgia Technical College are expanding their skills this summer through a series of demonstrations led by experienced beauty professionals from the local community.
Recently, Janeisha Ferguson of Luxe Me & Co. and Shaqutta Winstead of House of Diva, both of Americus, visited the SGTC campus to share their expertise and provide hands-on instruction to cosmetology students.
Ferguson, an alumna of SGTC, active master cosmetologist, and instructor, focused her presentation on esthetician and skin care services. She guided students through step-by-step techniques while discussing career opportunities in the growing skincare industry and demonstrating best practices used in professional settings.
Winstead, also an active master cosmetologist, showcased wig and weave installation techniques and shared advice on building a successful career in cosmetology. She encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning and prepare for the expectations and opportunities they will encounter as licensed professionals.
The demonstrations are part of an ongoing effort to connect students with working professionals and expose them to specialized services and emerging trends in the beauty industry. In addition to reinforcing classroom instruction, the sessions provide students with practical knowledge and real-world perspectives that can help them transition successfully into the workforce.
South Georgia Technical College’s Cosmetology program emphasizes hands-on learning, giving students the opportunity to develop technical skills while interacting with industry experts and potential mentors.
