SGTC Graduate Accepts Position with Robins Air Force Base

South Georgia Technical College graduate James “CJ” McDaniel Jr. of Plains has accepted a full-time position with Robins Air Force Base as an electronic mechanic helper in the Electronics Department.

In his new role, McDaniel will assist with overhauling, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining ground and airborne electronic equipment of moderate complexity in support of the base’s mission operations.

McDaniel earned his Associate Degree in Electronics Technology from South Georgia Technical College in December 2025. He also previously earned an Associate Degree in Drafting Technology from SGTC in 2022. While pursuing his education, he worked at Whispering Pines Animal Hospital in Americus for the past four years.

McDaniel said mock interviews, resume preparation, and job fairs coordinated through Career Services helped prepare him for entering the workforce.

Cynthia Carter worked with McDaniel during his job search and career preparation efforts.

Electronics Technology instructor Mike Collins said McDaniel consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and commitment to success while balancing work responsibilities with night classes.

McDaniel said he remained patient during his job search while staying focused on opportunities within the electronics industry. He added that he is eager to contribute to the mission at Robins Air Force Base.

Family members, including his parents, were excited to celebrate the accomplishment and the beginning of his new career.
