South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently held an advisory committee meeting for its Welding program at the Crisp County Center in Cordele. The meeting brought together faculty, administrators, and industry professionals to review program progress, discuss workforce needs, and explore opportunities for continued improvement.
The advisory committee provides critical insight that helps SGTC ensure its technical programs remain relevant and aligned with industry standards. Discussion topics included curriculum updates, enrollment trends, evolving technologies, and job placement opportunities for graduates.
In addition to Mayo and Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs Michelle McGowan, attendees included adjunct instructor Troy Gilliam, Ben Ergle of Cordele Metalworks, Scott McDuffie of Harris American (all alumni of the SGTC Welding program), and Brantley White of Harris American.
These committee meetings serve as an essential link between SGTC and local employers, helping shape programs that meet regional workforce demands and equip students with the skills needed to succeed.
