Melissa Hollis of Americus has been promoted to Receiving & Distribution Manager at South Georgia Technical College, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford. She has been working as the full-time Administrative Assistant to Julie Partain, Vice President of Academic Affairs. Hollis will be located on the SGTC Americus campus.
“On behalf of everyone at South Georgia Technical College, I would like to congratulate Melissa Hollis on her promotion,” said South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford. “We are very pleased that she has agreed to take on this new responsibility and know that she will do a wonderful job for the college and students.”
Hollis has a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration with Management Concentration from the University of Phoenix in Ontario, CA. She has worked with the federal government in different capacities for nearly 20 years.
She was employed with the Department of Defense as a Management and Program Analyst (GS9) prior to joining SGTC. She also worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs for 10 years in Administration and the United State Navy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate. She is a veteran of the United States Navy and has an active security clearance.
As the Receiving and Distribution Manager, Hollis will be responsible for receiving all materials ordered by SGTC, assist with unloading trucks, reconciling items received against packing invoices, accurately enter information in Ga @ Works accounting system of received goods as well as assign inventory numbers and labels to equipment. Her department also delivers materials to departments on the Americus campus, and maintains all receiving records and files for auditing purposes. She will conduct annual institutional physical counts of all inventory and quarterly inventory sample audits of counts, as well as process property through the state of Georgia surplus system.
Hollis will supervise part-time shipping and receiving technicians and report to SGTC Director of Accounting Danyel Reid.
