South Georgia Technical College recently recognized seven students who successfully completed the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program during a completion recognition ceremony held on the college's Americus campus.
Students recognized for completing the program were Ashanti Burns and Jazlyn Grier of Plains, Dezyriya Freeman and Kennedi Thomas of Montezuma, and Ayden Jackson, Kyleigh Leonard, and Larry Stephens of Americus.
The CNA program prepares students with the knowledge and hands-on clinical experience needed to provide quality patient care in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and home health agencies. Graduates are eligible to take the Georgia Nurse Aide Competency Examination to become Certified Nursing Assistants.
CNA instructor Janice Wiseman congratulated the students on their accomplishments, praising the class for its dedication and commitment throughout the program. She also commended the students for how quickly they grasped new concepts and for the professionalism they demonstrated during both classroom instruction and clinical training.
"The healthcare field needs compassionate, well-trained professionals, and this group has shown they are ready to make a positive difference in the lives of others," Wiseman said. "I am proud of everything they have accomplished and look forward to seeing them succeed in their careers."
South Georgia Technical College offers more than 200 associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit programs designed to prepare students for successful careers in today's workforce.
