South Georgia Technical College will have several connections to the upcoming hometown premiere of Shadowed, a supernatural thriller written, produced and directed by SGTC Marketing Specialist and Americus native Patrick Peacock.
The film will premiere Friday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m. at the Rylander Theatre in downtown Americus. The hometown premiere is sponsored by Visit Americus.
Peacock filmed portions of Shadowed on the SGTC Americus campus, with several college employees also participating in the production as extras.
The SGTC connections extend to the cast as well. Biology instructor Matthew Cowan portrays Blake Sullivan, a key character in the film. Cowan is also active in local theater and recently appeared as Dracula in Sumter Players’ production of Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors.
Natasha Ellis, who stars in Shadowed as Mallory, is the wife of SGTC English instructor Kevin Ellis. Seraphina Curtin, who portrays Mallory’s daughter Abby, is the daughter of SGTC Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs Josh Curtin.
Shadowed follows Mallory, a psychology professor raising her young daughter alone. As increasingly disturbing events begin to affect the family, Mallory is forced to confront secrets from the past and a presence that may be connected to them. The film is intended for mature audiences.
The film is Peacock’s second feature as a filmmaker. His previous feature, Back Focus, is currently available on streaming platforms including Tubi, Amazon and Apple TV.
Much of Shadowed was produced in Americus and the surrounding area with a primarily local cast and crew. In addition to scenes filmed at SGTC, the production utilized other recognizable locations around the community as well as private residences in Americus, Albany and Milford (Baker County).
Tickets for the Oct. 30 premiere are $20 for general admission. A limited number of $40 VIP tickets are also available and include admission to an after-party hosted by Sumter Players following the screening. Tickets are available through the Rylander Theatre box office.
The Americus screening is expected to be the primary local opportunity to see Shadowed before the film begins its festival run in 2027.
