   James Nathan Chapman of Americus has been hired as a full-time Campus Safety Officer at South Georgia Technical College, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford.  He will report to Campus Safety Director Sammy Stone.

   Chapman worked as a part-time Campus Safety Officer at South Georgia Technical College from 2015 until 2018 while attending classes. He is a graduate of the South Georgia Technical College Law Enforcement Academy and has an associate of applied science degree in Criminal Justice from South Georgia Technical College.

   He attended Valdosta State University after graduating from South Georgia Technical College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership.  He worked at TCI Powder Coatings as a Laboratory Technician prior to returning to South Georgia Technical College.

   As a full-time campus safety officer, Chapman will be responsible for the care and safety of SGTC faculty, staff, and students as well as South Georgia Technical College property.  He will provide security for events, coordinate with other law enforcement officers and patrol the campus.  He will also respond to emergency situations as well as write reports.
