Christine Rundle is named Practical Nursing instructor at SGTC

Christine Rundle of Americus has been hired as a Practical Nursing instructor for SGTC’s Americus campus, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford recently. In her new position, she will report to Academic Dean Vanessa Wall and Vice President for Academic Affairs David Kuipers.

Rundle has 21 years of nursing experience, including over 16 years as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) and nearly five years as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center and Sumter Regional Hospital. She holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus.

“Christine’s extensive experience as a nurse will certainly be an asset to the Practical Nursing department,” said SGTC President Dr. John Watford. “We have a strong focus on hands-on learning at SGTC, so it’s important to have instructors with experience in the field they’re teaching.”

The program was recognized in 2016 as a top Nursing program in the state by Accredited Colleges Online, and is offered on both the main SGTC campus in Americus and at the Crisp County Center in Cordele.

As Practical Nursing instructor, Rundle will teach practical nursing competencies in the classroom, lab, and in a hospital setting for clinical training. She will be responsible for evaluating student performance, progress, and procedural competencies. She will also contribute to program and division curriculum development processes, served on the advisory committee for the program with practical nursing industry leaders, recruit for the Practical Nursing program, stay abreast of industry changes in order to help keep the program technologically relevant, and other various duties as assigned.

She and her husband, Todd, live in Americus with their twin sons, Tanner and Trent, 17. They are members of Central Baptist Church.
