Two of South Georgia Technical College’s Crisp County Center student organizations are planning to end the Summer semester on a high note. The Crisp County Center chapter of the Student Government Association (SGA) will close out the semester with a Luau party, and the National Technical Honor Society is sponsoring a school supply collection to help benefit a local non-profit organization.

The Luau is scheduled for July 24 at 11 a.m. in the LaPorte Auditorium. All currently registered students on the Cordele campus are invited to attend the activity. The event will feature door prizes, bingo and a free lunch provided by the culinary arts program. Each student will receive a door prize and will be able to play bingo to win SGTC branded prizes.

The NTHS’ school supply collection, which will be collected on July 30, will benefit the Developmental Math Project, which is led by the non-profit organization Family Development Task Force (FDTF). A collection box will be placed in the front lobby of the Crisp County Center building to gather paper, pencils, and other school supplies.

The Developmental Math Project allows Crisp County High School Beta Club members to tutor students between the third and tenth grades who struggle in their math classes. The FDTF relies on donations to maintain their services for the local area. The program is based in the Dowdy Family Resource Building with home visits available for families who do not have transportation to attend the class tutoring sessions.
