The HEDST Associate Degree Program is a two-year program, where participants alternate between periods of class work and on-the-job work experience at the student’s sponsoring Caterpillar dealership. Technical and academic instruction is provided at South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia.

In the Heavy Equipment Dealer Service Technology (HEDST) program at South Georgia Technical College, you will learn how to service Caterpillar equipment using cutting-edge diagnostic and maintenance systems, advanced technologies, and high-tech tools. Graduates of the HEDST program (Think BIG) receive an associate degree in applied technology. The 100% Caterpillar designed curriculum combines classroom work with experiential learning — learning by doing. No more sitting in class wondering if you’re going to use what’s being taught. Through hands-on work experience and training in state-of-the-art labs, you’ll get to use what you’ve learned and you’ll know why it’s important.
