South Georgia Technical College will hold a Financial Aid Frenzy workshop on both campuses that will be open to all students. This workshop will take place Monday, April 24th from 9am-3pm in the Odom Center Testing Lab on the Americus Campus and Room A3 at the Crisp County Center. This workshop will allow students to receive help with filling out FAFSA and other paperwork to apply for federal student aid for the upcoming 2017-2018 year. Refreshments will be served, and financial aid representatives will be on hand to assist students in filling out their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

It is important to have all the information needed when filling out FAFSA or other important financial aid forms. Some of the information needed include 2015 tax return, amount of untaxed income, social security number, birth date and marital status.

Students have many different financial HOPE options to apply for. The types of financial aid include the Pell Grant, work study jobs, HOPE Grant, Hope Scholarship, Zell Miller Scholarship, Zell Miller Grant and the Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant (SIWDG).

The SIWDG awards up to $500 per semester for Diesel Equipment Technology, Early Childhood Care and Education, Electronics Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Medical Coding, Networking Specialist, Nurse Aid, Phlebotomy Technician, Practical Nursing, and Welding and Joining Technology programs, and up to $1,000 for Commercial Truck Driving.
