Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler will be the featured presenter at a 2017 Employers in the Know summit to be held at South Georgia Technical College. The summit will be held from 9am until 3pm on Wednesday, May 17 on SGTC’s Americus campus in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center.

Employers in the Know is a crash course for progressive HR and business professionals seeking practical guidance and real world tips for handling the toughest management and compliance challenges. It’s designed to meet the needs of managers, human resources professionals, business owners, and supervisors who want to operate effectively within the legal climate that is affecting the 2017 workplace. Expert speakers will provide important information to plan policies and actions during the complex legal and regulatory environment that faces businesses this year. Additionally, attendees will learn about Georgia’s Unemployment Insurance program, which focuses on maintaining a sound-cost effective Unemployment Insurance System. Employers and human resource professionals from Sumter, Crisp, Dooly, and the surrounding counties are invited to attend. Registration and networking will begin at 8:30am.

Mark Butler, Georgia Labor Commissioner will give the featured presentation at the summit. Additional speakers will include Connie Smith, Director of Georgia BEST; Bruce Medders, UI Policy and Procedures Analyst; and W. Jonathan Martin II, partner at Constangy, Brooks, Smith, & Prophete LLP.

“This is also a great opportunity to learn about what Georgia is doing to encourage job growth and economic development,” said Mark Lewis, Business Services Recruiter at the Georgia Department of Labor.
