The advisory committee for the Heavy Equipment Dealers Service Technology (HEDST) and Electric Power Generation (EPG) programs at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) met recently at the Heavy Equipment College of Technology building on the Americus campus.

Advisory board members met with HEDST/EPG instructors and SGTC instructional staff to review all aspects of the program and keep the program abreast of trends and changes in the heavy equipment industry.

As the Southeastern Caterpillar Dealers College of Technology, dealers sponsor students to study at SGTC and then return to work in eight-week increments until the student has completed educational training. The student is then qualified for full-time employment with their sponsoring dealership.

The general purpose of the advisory councils at SGTC is to advise and assist program personnel and the college in training and preparing students to better serve the needs of business and industry in SGTC’s service area, as well as statewide. The Council serves as a link between the workplace and the college.
