Christian Holloman of Buena Vista has been selected to represent South Georgia Technical College at the Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Leadership Institute in Atlanta. The EAGLE Leadership Institute recognizes and honors those students who have demonstrated superior achievement in adult education classes and programs.
EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in the adult education programs. This student recognition program is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities that are available in local communities across the state and to foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.
The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) through its Office of Adult Education (OAE) sponsors the annual Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Leadership Institute.
South Georgia Technical College offers adult education/GED classes in seven counties. The SGTC GED class locations are at the SGTC Crisp County Center in Cordele and at 401 S. 10th Street in Cordele, 229-271-4059; Macon County, 309 Spaulding Road, Montezuma, 478-472-3417; Marion County, 120 Gibson Way, Buena Vista, 229-649-3639; Schley County, 41 Wilson Street, Ellaville, 229-937-2025; Taylor County, 35 Oak Street, Butler, GA, 229-931-READ; Webster County, 40 Cemetery Road, Preston, GA, 229-828-8785; and Sumter County at South Georgia Tech, 900 South Georgia Tech Parkway, Americus, 120 West Church Street, Americus and 304 Waymon Street in Plains, 229-931-5713.
Students can register for morning, afternoon or evening classes based on the individual sits and students can also study for the GED online. The cost of the GED test is $160 or $40 per individual test, but the classes are free. Scholarships are also available to help qualifying students cover the testing fee.
