Walterboro, SC – The South Georgia Technical College Jets dropped an 85 – 63 decision to the USC Salkehatchie Indians in Walterboro, SC, over the weekend to fall to 1 – 6 overall. They will return home to host Marion Military on Tuesday, December 4th at 7 p.m. in the Hangar as part of the SGTC Light Up Your Future events. Everyone is invited out to see the campus in lights and enjoy a great basketball game. Application fees will be waived for students who apply for Spring Semester during the “Light Up Your Future” event.
The Jets have played one of the toughest non-conference schedules so far this season and while SGTC Jets head coach Travis Garrett is not pleased with the results, he is hoping that the strength of the early competition will pay big dividends when the Jets begin their conference play.
This was the second time this season that South Georgia Tech has played and lost to USC Salkehatchie. They dropped a 72 – 66 decision when the two teams met in the Jets Classic Tournament in Americus and then they lost 85 – 63 on the Indians home court.
In the game over the weekend, freshman guard Justin Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL was the only Jet to score in double-figures. He came away with 26 points and 13 rebounds to post a double-double. He was also the only Jet to pull down double-digit rebounds in that contest.
Sophomore forward Jonathan Tchuisse from Paris, France, started for the Jets and was the next highest scorer with eight points. Freshman guard Toriano Lewis from Richmond, VA, came off the bench to add seven points for the Jets and then sophomore forward Adonis Green, freshman DJ Fisher, and freshman Jalen Wison each accounted for four points. Nick Cummings, Lamine Conte, and Sam Matice tossed in two points each and Brice Paster and Khader Bini closed out the scoring with one point apiece.
