Lady Jets to host Andrew College in NJCAA Region XVII tournament semi-final round

The top-ranked South Georgia Technical College Lady Jets, Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Division 1 women’s basketball regular season champions, earned a bye in the first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XVII end of the season tournament. SGTC will be hosting the semi-final and final rounds on Thursday, March 13 and Friday, March 14.
The Lady Jets will host Andrew College in the semi-final round on Thursday, March 13th at 6 p.m. in the Hangar. Fifth-ranked Andrew College upset fourth-seeded Central Georgia Tech 64 – 51 in the quarter-final round Monday to advance to the semi-final game against SGTC. The Lady Jets are 14 – 1 in the conference.
Third-seeded East Georgia overpowered Southern Crescent Technical College 87 – 49 to secure the other spot in the semi-finals. East Georgia will now face second-seeded Albany Tech at 8 p.m. Thursday at South Georgia Tech. Albany Tech enters the tournament with an 11 – 4 conference record.
East Georgia also finished the season with an 11 – 4 record but lost a tie-breaker for second place in head to head competition with Albany Technical College.
The winners of Thursday’s games will meet in the finals on Friday, March 14 at 6 p.m. The winner of that contest will qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament to be held in Casper, Wyoming March 25 – April 1 at the Ford Wyoming Center.
