Levi Cowan of Americus has been hired as a technical support specialist for South Georgia Technical College (SGTC), president Dr. John Watford announced recently. Cowan will report to information technology director Dianne Trueblood.

Cowan graduated from Schley County High School in May 2017 and is set to graduate from SGTC in December 2018. Despite still working towards his networking specialist and computer support specialist degree and diploma, Cowan touts more than four years of experience in the field.

He began gaining professional experience while working for Schley County High School’s IT department as a summer job while he was still in high school. From that, he began working for Technology One in Americus as a level one bench technician – a position in which he worked for a year and a half diagnosing and repairing computer systems. After gaining knowledge in that position, Cowan moved up the street to take a new position in a similar role at Barnett Computers as a bench technician. Months later, he would add another part-time job to his already busy schedule, working as an IT technician for South Georgia Technical College.

Cowan’s duties in his new full-time position will include serving as a lead technician and providing services to technology users, installing Microsoft operating systems and applications software, maintaining and repairing computer networks and all other IT related duties.
