PharmaCentra and Concentra Solutions sponsor scholarships at South Georgia Technical College

Americus, GA – PharmaCentra, LLC and Concentra Solutions, Inc. made a donation to the South Georgia Technical College Foundation recently to provide scholarship opportunities to its current employees enrolled at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC).
PharmaCentra and Concentra Solutions’ CEO Dan Berman said the catalyst for the program stems from the companies’ desire to reward ‘the radical resourcefulness in South Georgia,’ which always creates inventive solutions to challenges, and combining that with SGTC’s ‘Make It Happen’ purpose made perfect sense. “Empowering our employees to embrace that critical next step in their lives, both professionally and personally, strengthens all of us,” said Berman.
PharmaCentra’s success can be attributed to the company’s highly skilled, experienced staff and advisors. By investing in our employees, we are investing in this business and this community, added Berman.
SGTC President Dr. John Watford thanked Berman for partnering with the college and foundation and reiterated that “South Georgia Tech is key to workforce development in this region and we are pleased to provide educational opportunities to your current employees as well as future employees.”
To qualify for the PharmaCentra/Concentra Solutions scholarship at South Georgia Technical College, students must be an active employee at the date of class registration, much have been an active employee for 12-consecutive months prior to class registration, be in good standing, and enroll in a medical assisting, health science, business or information technology program. Special preferences will be given to licensed practical nursing, medical assisting, health care assisting or pharmacy tech students.
In addition to sponsoring the scholarship opportunities, Berman also agreed that any students who have taken and passed SGTC’s Medical Terminology for Allied Health Science Class will be guaranteed an interview. “This one course fast tracks students’ applications at both PharmaCentra and Concentra Solutions. Students that pass this class rise to the top of our application pool,” confirmed Berman.
The Spring PharmaCentra/Concentra Solutions 2017 Scholarships were awarded to PharmaCentra’s Jennifer Lopez of Americus, and Concentra Solution’s Cierra Watts of DeSoto. Jennifer Lopez furthers her medical education by studying an anatomy course called “Structure and Function of the Human Body”. Cierra Watts is strengthening her medical experience by taking a course in Medical Assisting, currently concentrating on medical office procedures. Both ladies find the courses challenging and rewarding, and are able to juggle classes with their flexible work schedules.
At the beginning of each semester, these sister companies will invite South Georgia Technical College to their campus to discuss options for all employees.
