SGTC Hosts RESA Science Fair

South Georgia Technical College recently hosted the final round of the Chattahoochee-Flint RESA Science Fair in the James S. Peters Gymnasium on the Americus campus. More than 40 students in fifth through eighth grades from the Chattahoochee-Flint RESA service area presented their projects to a panel of volunteer judges from the community. The judges’ scores were tallied to determine the winners. Chattahoochee-Flint RESA Executive Director Richard McCorkle presented trophies to the winners in each category.

The overall first place winner was Sau Yi Diaz Chan of Macon County Elementary School for a project showing the effect of music on people’s heart rate. Overall second place went to Zsa’Chorian McLendon of Clay County Middle School (Which Candle Burns the Fastest), and Ni’Ciera Cooper and Keyshauna Sims of Clay County Middle School (Can Color Affect Taste) won third place overall.

First Place – Jada Smith, Macon County Middle School

Second Place – Kayla Parker, Macon County Middle School

Third Place – Madison James, Macon County Middle School

Seventh Grade:

First Place – Ni’Ciera Cooper and Keyshauna Sims, Clay County Middle School

Second Place – Madison Jackson, Macon County Middle School

Third Place – Jackson Hunter Hill, Taylor County Middle School

Eighth Grade:

First Place – Zsa’Chorian McLendon, Clay County Middle School

Second Place – Teairya Williams, Clay County Middle School

Third Place – Ja’Kadah Nunnally and Archayla Wallace, Clay County Middle School

Best Interview: Conner Camp, Chattahoochee County Elementary
