SGTC Lady Jets Camille Coleman named GCAA Player of Week

Camille Coleman 4, was selected as the GCAA District I Co-Player of the Week for the first week of February.

South Georgia Technical College Lady Jets sophomore transfer guard, Camille Coleman was selected as the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Division I women’s basketball Player of the Week for the first week in February. This is the second time that she has been selected for this honor and the seventh time in 11 weeks that a South Georgia Technical College player has been chosen as the Player of the Week.
Coleman, who is from South Bend, Indiana, averaged 16 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists, in the Lady Jets win over Andrew College and Central Georgia Technical College this past week.
The South Georgia Technical College Lady Jets are currently ranked 21st in the National Junior College Athletic Association and are leading the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association with a 9 – 0 record. They are 21 – 3 overall on the season.
“Camille Coleman stepped up and played an important role in our two conference wins this past week,” said Lady Jets Head Coach James Frey. “Camille has been an asset for us and performed well this season. We will need her leadership on and off the court if we are going to continue to move forward and realize our goals of winning the conference, the District XVII tournament, the District J play-in tournament game and then ultimately advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament in Texas.”
The Lady Jets travel to Chattahoochee Technical College on Wednesday, February 8th for a conference double-header with the men. Tip-off will be at 5:30 and 7:30. The two teams will return home on Saturday to face Georgia Highlands College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Everyone who wears red will be admitted to the games on Saturday, Feb. 11th for free. The college will also be giving away free t-shirts on a first come basis until they are gone. Both squads will be at home again on Wednesday, February 15th for a double-header with East Georgia. Games are at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
