SGTC Math Instructor Kim Miller Retires

The Crisp County Center of South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently held a reception to honor Kim Miller, who is retiring after more than 27 years of service to the college.

Miller began her career with SGTC as a part-time Adult Literacy/GED instructor. In 1992, she was hired as a full-time Adult Literacy instructor. She transitioned to Math instructor in April of 1999.

Several members of the faculty and staff of the Crisp County Center as well as SGTC’s Americus campus were on hand to celebrate Miller’s career and honor her work at the college.

Also at the reception were Miller’s husband Robert Miller, son Andrew Miller, and her parents, Johnny and Melissa Gordon.

SGTC President Dr. John Watford congratulated Miller on her years of service and noted the impact she had on the thousands of students she helped through her work. He also presented her with an engraved plaque commemorating the occasion.

Miller’s coworkers and friends also shared kind words about their experiences working with her. Their comments indicated the tremendous respect Miller has earned at SGTC.

In her remarks, Miller expressed a deep gratitude for her experience working for South Georgia Technical College. She spoke about all the relationships she developed over the years with her coworkers, and how honored she felt to have been able to help so many students chart a better course for their lives.

Kim Miller holds a BS degree in Education with a major concentration in Mathematics, a Master’s in Business Administration, and a Master’s in Education.

Prior to joining SGTC, Miller worked as a computer operator with Western Auto, a math teacher at A.S. Clark Middle School in Cordele, and a secretary with Pettis Tire Company in Cordele.
