SGTC partnering with Fuller Center, GSW, and Phoebe to build home for 2025 Big Event

April 14, 2025

The Americus Sumter branch of the Fuller Center is working with South Georgia Technical College, Georgia Southwestern State University and Phoebe Sumter Hospital to begin building a home for Tiffany Sims on Monday April 14 at 220 S Dudley St Americus.

The big event was kicked off with a ceremony followed by Georgia Southwestern University volunteers beginning construction. GSW refers to the project as the “The Big Event 2025: Blitz Build,” with students gaining the opportunity to give back to their local community. This will be the second annual “Big Event” held.

South Georgia Technical College and Phoebe Sumter will also send volunteers at later stages of the project. SGTC students and faculty and staff are scheduled to begin the week of April 21st and volunteer two weeks of work toward the event.
