South Georgia Technical College’s (SGTC) Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) student organization for the Americus campus recently conducted officer interviews and elected new club officers for the 2016-2017 academic year. Candidates were interviewed by a panel that included SGTC staff members Dr. Andrea Oates, Academic Dean and PBL Local advisor; Linda Edge, Administrative Assistant; Teresa McCook, Criminal Justice Technology instructor; and Donna Lawrence, Business Technology adjunct instructor and PBL Local and State Advisor.

The group responded to a round of questions and were observed during a group team building exercise. The elected officers included: Racarda Blackmon of Americus, President; Ashley Halstead of Ellaville, Vice President of Membership and Recruitment; Alicia English of Americus, Vice President of FBLA Interactions and Special Projects; Kimberly Jackson of Americus, Vice President of Community Service and Public Relations; Brandon Chatman of Thomaston, Vice President of Professional Membership and Corporate Sponsorships; Branyon Kendrick of Montezuma, Historian; Brittany Sanders of Columbus, Assistant Historian; Fierra Riley of Americus, Secretary; and Ashely Thomas of Cartersville, Assistant Secretary.

“We’re excited to have students with diverse leadership skills to help steer the group’s goals for the 2016-2017 academic year,” said Local and State Advisor Donna Lawrence.

“Phi Beta Lambda is the oldest and largest business student organization, but students from all SGTC programs are welcome to become members,” said Advisor Dr. Andrea Oates. “We’re excited for a great year of service, education, and progress.”
