SGTC SkillsUSA Club Recognized for Achievements
The SkillsUSA club at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently earned recognition for one of the largest membership increases in the state. Under the guidance of SGTC SkillsUSA advisor and Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs Vanessa Wall, 59 additional students joined the club compared to last year, good for the third largest increase in Georgia. The club also earned Level 1 Quality Chapter Status in the SkillsUSA Chapter Excellence program.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled work force. It is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers, high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skills service occupations, including health occupations. The Skills USA program hosts local, state, and national competition for students to showcase their skills learned through hands-on training in the classroom.
