Stanford named SGTC Student of Excellence for November

Tyler Stanford of Lenox, a South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Diesel Equipment Technology student, was named SGTC Student of Excellence during the college’s recent student recognition ceremony held in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center on SGTC’s Americus campus.

Stanford received a plaque of recognition and a financial award from SGTC for his accomplishments. He was nominated for this honor by SGTC Diesel Equipment Technology instructor Craig Kelly.

Each month, students from certain divisions selected for that month are nominated for the Student of Excellence award by their instructors. This month’s ceremony recognized students in transportation programs at SGTC. The winner is selected based on a number of criteria, including grades, work ethics, participation in clubs and organizations, and amount of program completion. Each nominee is presented with a certificate and a South Georgia Technical College Student of Excellence T-shirt.

Other nominees included Amy Griffin of Oglethorpe, Aviation Maintenance Technology; Stephen Simmons of Oglethorpe, Automotive Technology; Marvin Johnson of Americus, Auto Collision Repair Technology; and Shelby Arnett of Cordele, Motorsports Vehicle Technology.

Additional nominating instructors included Charles Christmas, Aviation Maintenance Technology; Carey Mahone, Automotive Technology; Starlyn Sampson, Auto Collision Repair Technology; and Kevin Beaver, Motorsports Vehicle Technology.

South Georgia Technical College is currently registering students for spring semester on both the Americus and Crisp County Center campuses, which begins Monday, January 9th, 2017. There will be a registration and orientation session on Thursday, January 5th, 2017.
