Three officials from the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex (WR-ALC), Robins Air Force Base visited South Georgia Technical College recently to talk with college administrators and instructors about the Pathways Internships and Apprentice programs.
“We need to fill a large number of positions in the near future across the spectrum,” said one WR-ALC Training Administrator. “We have lots of needs and are seeking experienced candidates as well as individuals that are currently enrolled at qualifying educational institutions to take on positions as Interns for these specialized positions. These student interns must be enrolled for at least six hours per semester and be able to work a minimum of 16 hours per week.”
Starting pay for the internship positions are around $16 per hour with individuals eligible for a promotion and a raise after completing a portion of the internship. Students also may be eligible for full-time employment after graduation. Individuals can apply for Pathways Internships at the USAJobs@www.usajobs.gov website on-line.
The Pathways Internships and Apprentice programs allows South Georgia Technical College officials to submit student and alumni resumes directly to the WR-ALC for the Apprenticeship Program. “We are looking for more than just workers,” explained the Training Administrator, “We want qualified candidates that are well-rounded individuals with integrity. All jobs require background checks and now is a great time to get gainful employment and earn while you are learning. The apprenticeships are full-time employment positions with opportunity for advancement for those who display worthy ethics and skills. We have lots of needs right now.”
Cynthia Carter, Director of Career Services at South Georgia Technical College, SGTC Vice President of Academic Affairs David Kuipers, SGTC Vice President of Instructional Advancement Su Ann Bird, and 13 different program instructors met with Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex Professional Development and Training Office about the internship opportunities open to SGTC students and other students across the nation.
