SGTC hosting Fall Semester Registration Days July 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.

South Georgia Technical College is sending out hundreds of acceptance letters to new students for its upcoming Fall Semester beginning with the word “Congratulations!”   South Georgia Technical College’s Fall Semester begins August 17th.   The college is removing potential enrollment obstacles by waiving entrance exams.

New and existing students are encouraged to attend South Georgia Tech’s in-person Fall Semester orientation and registration anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on one of the following days, July 21st, 22nd, and 23rd on the Americus and Crisp County Center campuses.  Orientation and registration should take approximately an hour and a half.

Students are asked to limit guests to two persons. Social distancing guidelines will be in place and the college will be following local and state executive order COVID-19 guidelines.  Individuals are encouraged to wear face coverings.

Orientation for new students will be held in the Haynes Building on the Americus campus with registration to follow in their respective program areas.  Parents and guests can attend an orientation and informational session in Hicks Hall.  The Crisp County Center students will begin in the auditorium on the campus on Midway Road.  Orientation and registration is expected to last approximately an hour.

“There has never been a better time to apply and enroll at South Georgia Technical College,” said SGTC President Dr. John Watford.  “Many people have lost their jobs during our nation’s pandemic and we offer programs that are considered essential to our economy.  We have financial aid options that may provide nearly 100% of the tuition cost.  South Georgia Technical College also provides the use of textbooks at no charge.”

The college plans to implement three different options for classes Fall semester.  The traditional face to face classes will be available with smaller class sizes to follow social distancing guidelines.  Lab based courses will be available to allow hands-on training with smaller lab sizes and social distancing measures applied.  There will also be the online anytime classes for many of the general core and business related programs.

On-campus housing and cafeteria service are scheduled to be offered Fall Semester.  Students living on-campus will be provided single rooms at the double-occupancy rates.  Space is limited so returning students as well as students enrolled in partnership programs will have first option.  New students will be placed on a waiting list.

South Georgia Technical College offers a variety of financial aid through grants and scholarships to qualifying students including the HOPE Career Grant. The HOPE Career Grant provides an opportunity for students to complete a program of study leading to a high demand career. The HOPE Career Grant pays 100 percent of the cost of tuition for one and two-year technical programs of study. The HOPE grant, HOPE Scholarship and federal PELL grant options are also available as well as grants and scholarships from the SGTC Foundation.

There are over 200 associate degree, diploma and technical certificate or credit programs available at South Georgia Technical College.  To learn more about the academic programs and the different financial aid opportunities, visit the website at www.southgatech.edu.
