Career Services

The Career Services Office offers a variety of services designed to help meet the employment needs of students, graduates, general public, and employers. Services are offered free of charge. The Career Services Resource Center is located in Hicks Hall Student Center Office on the Americus Campus. Regular office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, or evenings by appointment.

Services For Job Seekers

Job Opportunities:

Listings include off-campus job opportunities, including full-time, part-time, summer and temporary work. Job seekers are encouraged to register with the Career Services Resource Center so they may be notified of employment openings by email or telephone.

Job Search Assistance:

Resume and cover letter development, interview advice, mock interviews, job search counseling, job seeking skills workshops, and career information.

Career and Job Fair:

An annual event is held in April/September on the Americus Campus. This is an excellent way to meet employers, learn about their organizations, and see where you might fit in. The fair is also a good opportunity to obtain career information.

Career Services Resource Center:

Located in Hicks Hall Student Center Office on the Americus Campus. The center focuses on job search and job seeking skills, the labor market, and career exploration. Services For Employers

Job Listings:

Employers may list full-time, part-time, temporary, and seasonal openings. Job openings are posted on the web page twice monthly. Job listings are posted at both the Americus and Cordele campus. For detailed information, employers may contact Career Services. In addition, program instructors receive any job listings that relate to programs of study at SGTC.

Job listings are accepted by email, telephone, and mail (229-931-2057 or 800-928-0283), or by fax 229-931-4251. Job notices also may be emailed to Cynthia Carter: ccarter@southgatech.edu.

On Campus Recruitment:

Employers are invited to set up an information table in a high-traffic area to recruit applicants. Reservations must be made in advance with the Career Services Resource Center. Scheduled OCR visits/announcements will be posted in the student centers and emailed to program areas. The Career Services Resource Center maintains files on businesses for job seekers to review. We accept company literature, such as general information sheets and brochures.

Career and Job Fair:

Held annually in April/September on the Americus campus. Participation in the Career and Job Fair is an excellent way to share information about business/industry, meet prospective employees, and provide career information.
